Last Sunday, June 27, 2010, dissidents in the eastern part of the country were allowed to attend a mass for Orlando Zapata Tamapy in Banes, where he was born and where his family lives. On the 26th the political police forces tried to block two women, from Holguin province, from entering Zapata’s mother, Reina Tamayo’s, house; but they finally managed to do and went to mass at 9:00 am. When the mass was over, those attending put on T-shirts with a photo of the dissident who died on a hunger strike, and went to the local cemetery to visit his grace. There the 18 participants shouted Zapata Vive!
The political police in the person of a major visted Reina and told her they could only shout three times.
Note: This information came from Reina Luisa Tamayo Danger, mother of the martyr Orlando Zapata Tamayo, by telephone.

It seems to me that the Catholic Church in Cuba is with God and with the Devil. When I was in elementary school my mom told me not to go into the church in our neighborhood, because if the director of the school saw me go in I would get voted out of school or get in trouble, now I am a young man of 36 and today I ask my mom if I can go in the church and she answers, yes my child now you can go into the church.
I do not understand the busy schedule of the Vatican’s foreign minister to Cuba as I do not understand many things about the Catholic Church in Cuba, I think now if they are with God and the Devil, God bless you all. Hallelujah, the Vatican foreign minister’s visit to Cuba. Amen.
Juan Juan Almeida declared a hunger strike today until he is given permission to leave the country to visit his family, see a doctor, and return. He explains in the video.
The Cuban Government communicated to the Catholic Church that they granted an “extrapenal” license, i.e. parole, to the political prisoner Ariel Sigler whose state of health is very grave. They also said that another 6 prisoners were “moved closer,” to penitentiaries closer to their provinces.
