At a press conference this afternoon the Archbishop of Havana, Cuban Cardinal Jaime Ortega, said it was a cordial meeting; he met with President Raul Castro where they talked about current issues. He said Monseñor Dominique Mamberti, Vatican Foreign Minister, would come to Havana on June 15 at the invitation of the Cuban church and the Cuban government to commemorate 75 years of relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Cuba.

In this afternoon’s press release he said that the visit of Monseñor Dominique Mamberti was not related to the gestures the church made in recent weeks to the country’s authorities, regarding the political prisoners and the Ladies in White.
