On the evening of Feb. 12, in District 47, Punta Brava, La Lisa Municipality, the meeting was held to choose a delegate to represent the people in the Popular Power of the locality.

Silvio Benítez Márquez, president of the Liberal Party of the Republic of Cuba attended, as a representative for Candidates for Change.  At the meeting Benítez Márquez was proposed as a candidate to be a delegate for this district, where he lives.

Some attending, who knew that Benítez Márquez is a prominent dissident, protested, but the president of the electoral board did not reject the candidacy of the opponent.

In the voting, Benítez received 14 votes in favor, 48 against and 60 abstentions, on the part of those present. Many think that that fact that so many abstained is an achievement, as it shows the level of discontent felt by the people with the delegates.

The platform Candidates for Change, is proposing more than 20 candidates and in this way connecting with the electorate.
