Cardinal Who Was Pope John Paul II’s Secretary to Visit Cuba

Havana, Feb. 19th: Ecclesiastic sources announced today that the Polish cardinal and former personal secretary of Pope John Paul II, Stanislaw Dziwisv, will visit Cuba as of Sunday to present the documentary entitled “Testimony,” which is based on his memories of the deceased head of the Catholic Church.

Dziwisv, archbishop of the Polish city of Krakow for 5 years now, had not returned to Cuba since he accompanied Pope John Paul II in 1998 on his historic visit to the island.  According to the archdiocese of Havana he will remain in Cuba until Wednesday and will celebrate a mass for youth.

The 70-year-old cardinal was secretary for Karol Wojtyla since he was archbishop of Krakow (1966-1978) and later during all of his papacy until his death in 2005.  “Testimony” is based on his 2007 book “Life with Karol.”
